365 Days

If you couldn’t guess from the title, it’s been one whole year since we first moved into our house at 105 Twilight Ct. I remember it like it was yesterday… As soon as we closed on the house, we packed up what we could into our cars and went over to enter our home as the official homeowners! It was very exciting! We slept on our mattress in the living room the first night and I remember there was an awful thunderstorm – not much different than the thunderstorm we got last night.

Our journey began with a lot of paint and unpacking. Once we got settled in we started making a list of things we wanted to do around the house. We accomplished a number of things and finished many projects this past year, including:

-Painting every room in the house

-Building a coffee table and side tables

-Updating the front garden area

-Building built in cabinets/shelving in the living room

-Building a bench and chairs for our fire pit area

-Building a king size bed

-And recently, we started taking down the popcorn ceiling in our master bath (we’ll post more about that soon!)

Although we’ve accomplished a lot this year, next year is going to bring even bigger and more challenging projects. This year we plan to:

-Finish removing the popcorn ceilings

-Completely update the kitchen (including flooring, cabinets, countertop and appliances)

-Seed our backyard to hopefully *fingers crossed* grow grass

-Re-side the house

-Update the master bath and possibly downstairs bathroom

The master bathroom update may come sooner than expected. While out shopping around for pricing on kitchen appliances and counter tops recently, we stumbled across two vanity’s at Lowe’s that were on clearance (one didn’t have a top, and the other must have been previously returned). Together we got them for $150, which is a steal, if you ask me. Now that we have them and they’re just taking up space in our guest room, Scott’s gotten excited to just go ahead and re-do the master bathroom now. If we find the right supplies (counter top, floor tiles, etc) at the right price, we may have a new project on our hands VERY soon!

All in all it’s been a very productive year, and we’ve really enjoyed turning this house into our home!
